Frequently Asked Questions
How do I route LitPads audio to Discord, OBS, or Zoom?
The App Store versions of LitPads do not include a virtual audio driver (App Store apps cannot ship one). On Mac, install our free companion LitLink: it creates a virtual audio device, routes LitPads into Discord, OBS, or Zoom, and adds per-app routing and mic passthrough, with a setup guide on the LitLink page. LitPads Studio, the direct-download Mac edition, bundles LitLink and the driver in one installer. Third-party drivers such as BlackHole work too if you already use one. On iPhone and iPad there is no virtual audio routing; sounds play through the device speaker or output.
My sounds are not playing. What should I check?
Verify that the correct audio output device is selected in your system settings. Check that per-pad volume and master volume are above zero. Ensure the audio file format is supported (MP3, WAV, AIFF, M4A, FLAC, AAC, CAF). Try reimporting the file if the issue persists.
My boards are not syncing between my devices. What should I check?
Work through this list on every device. iCloud Sync is turned on in LitPads Settings, and you quit and reopened the app after turning it on. Pro is active (use Restore Purchases if needed). Each device is signed in to the same iCloud account with iCloud Drive enabled and storage available. LitPads is the same version everywhere. And each device runs a current system version: iOS 18, macOS 15, and earlier can fail to sync, and updating both devices usually fixes it. The status line under the iCloud Sync toggle tells you exactly what the app still needs. If it still will not sync, send us the file from Settings > Privacy > Export Diagnostics.
How do I connect a MIDI controller?
Connect your USB or Bluetooth MIDI controller to your device. LitPads auto-detects any CoreMIDI-compatible controller. Open a pad’s settings and tap MIDI Learn, then press any note on your controller to map it. Velocity sensitivity is enabled by default.
Global hotkeys are not working on Mac. What should I do?
Global hotkeys require Input Monitoring permission. Go to System Settings > Privacy & Security > Input Monitoring and enable LitPads. If you recently updated macOS, you may need to re-grant this permission. Hotkeys are automatically disabled when you type in text fields.
How do I restore my Pro purchase on a new device?
Open LitPads on your new device and go to the Pro upgrade screen. Tap Restore Purchases. Your purchase is tied to your Apple ID and can be restored on any device signed into the same account at no additional cost.
What is the difference between Free and Pro?
Free includes 6 boards with 20 pads each, all 4 play modes, retrigger modes, file import, recording, and background playback. Pro unlocks unlimited boards and pads, per-pad parametric EQ, pitch shifting, MIDI support, global hotkeys, setlist mode, audio ducking, custom pad images, and board export.
