Soundboard with iCloud Sync

LitPads keeps your soundboard the same on every screen. Boards, pads, cue lists, and the audio files themselves mirror automatically across iPhone, iPad, and Mac through your own iCloud account.

Does LitPads Sync Your Soundboard Across Devices?

Yes. LitPads mirrors your boards, pads, cue lists, and audio across every device signed in to the same iCloud account. Edit a board on your Mac and it appears on your iPad and iPhone automatically, with no manual export or file transfer. iCloud Sync is a LitPads Pro feature.
  • Boards and pads full layout, colors, names, and per-pad settings
  • Cue lists your setlists travel with the boards
  • Audio files the actual sounds sync, not just references
  • Preferences skin, default fades, ducking, and pad sizing

Most apps that claim cross-device support only sync settings and leave you to move the audio yourself. LitPads syncs the sounds too, so a board you build on one device is genuinely playable on another the moment it arrives.

What Actually Syncs Across Your iPhone, iPad, and Mac?

iCloud Sync mirrors your boards, pads, cue lists, and the underlying audio files, plus app preferences such as skin, default volume and fades, play mode, ducking, and iPad pad sizing. The audio uses your iCloud storage quota rather than counting against the app.

Because both the board layout and the sounds sync, a board you build on one device is fully playable the moment it arrives on another, with no extra download step. And since your audio lives in your iCloud, a large sound library counts against your iCloud storage rather than against LitPads.

The iPhone and iPad versions receive exactly the same synced content as the Mac, laid out for each screen. Record a clip on your iPhone, refine it in the trim editor on your iPad, and perform from your Mac, all from one board.

How Do You Turn On iCloud Sync?

iCloud Sync is part of LitPads Pro. Unlock Pro, then the first time you go Pro LitPads asks for your consent before anything uploads. Choose Turn On, and the app restarts once to begin syncing. Every device signed in to the same Apple ID then stays in sync automatically. You can toggle it in Settings under iCloud Sync.
  1. Make sure each device (iPhone, iPad, Mac) is signed in to the same iCloud account. iCloud Drive should be on, which is its default setting.
  2. Unlock LitPads Pro on one device.
  3. On your first Pro launch, LitPads asks before enabling sync, so nothing uploads without your say. Choose Turn On.
  4. LitPads restarts once to engage syncing. After that, changes propagate on their own.
  5. Manage it any time in Settings under iCloud Sync, where you can turn it off on a single device.

The consent step is deliberate: LitPads never uploads a single byte until you agree. If you prefer to keep everything local, leaving sync off is a genuine choice, and the app works fully offline.

Is LitPads iCloud Sync Private?

Yes. Sync runs entirely through your own iCloud account. There is no separate LitPads account and no LitPads server in the path. Your boards and sounds stay in your private iCloud, visible only to your own signed-in devices.

LitPads has no account system at all. Your library is tied to your Apple ID, so there is nothing for LitPads to store, breach, or sell. Turn sync off and your data never leaves the device.

This mirrors the way LitPads treats the rest of your data. There is no analytics account, no login, and no cloud backend operated by LitPads. iCloud Sync simply uses the private, encrypted storage Apple already gives every device.

Cross-Device Workflows That iCloud Sync Unlocks

Build a board on your Mac and perform it from your iPad on stage. Capture a sound on your iPhone and it is ready on every device. Prepare a theatre cue list at the tech desk and run it from a second device. Because the whole board syncs, the device you happen to be holding always has the complete setup.

Musicians assemble backing tracks and effects on the Mac where editing is fastest, then walk on stage with an iPad carrying the identical board. DJs and streamers keep a phone in a pocket as a backup trigger surface for the same sounds running on the desktop. Theatre operators build the show once and open it wherever the run of the night puts them.

For a deeper look at how each platform presents the same board, see the soundboard app for iPad and the Mac soundboard comparison.

Keeping Every Device in Sync

Keep LitPads on the same version across your devices. Running mixed versions on iPhone, iPad, and Mac can cause sync conflicts, so when a LitPads update lands, update all your devices before opening the app on any of them.

When an update is available, install it everywhere first, then open LitPads. Matching versions keeps the board and pad structure consistent so iCloud has nothing to reconcile.

Sync is automatic, though it is not instantaneous in every case. Changes usually appear within moments, and occasionally a Mac can take a little longer to pick up a change made on a mobile device. If a device looks behind, reopening LitPads on it prompts a fresh pull from iCloud.

Soundboard iCloud Sync: Frequently Asked Questions

Can you sync a soundboard across devices?

Yes. LitPads mirrors your boards, pads, cue lists, and audio across every device signed in to the same iCloud account, so a change you make on your Mac shows up on your iPad and iPhone automatically. Cross-device sync is part of LitPads Pro.

Does LitPads use iCloud?

Yes. LitPads syncs through your own iCloud account. There is no separate LitPads account and no LitPads server in the middle. Your soundboards stay in your private iCloud, and synced audio uses your iCloud storage quota rather than counting against the app.

How do I sync my soundboard to another device?

Unlock LitPads Pro, then turn on iCloud Sync. The first time you go Pro, LitPads asks for your consent before anything uploads. After you turn it on, the app restarts once to begin syncing, and every device signed in to the same Apple ID picks up your boards automatically. You can toggle sync on or off any time in Settings under iCloud Sync.

Do my sounds sync too, or just settings?

Both. Unlike apps that only sync preferences, LitPads syncs the actual audio files along with your boards, pads, and cue lists, plus app settings like your skin, default fades, and ducking. The audio counts against your iCloud storage rather than the app.

Is iCloud sync free?

iCloud Sync is part of LitPads Pro, a one-time $29.99 purchase with no subscription. The free version keeps your boards on a single device. Pro adds automatic sync across iPhone, iPad, and Mac, along with per-pad EQ, pitch shifting, unlimited boards, and more.
