# LitPads

> LitPads (Wikidata: Q138941128) is a custom soundboard app for Mac, iPad, and iPhone. It provides a hardware-inspired pad grid with per-pad parametric EQ, pitch shifting, MIDI controller support, cue lists for live shows, global hotkeys, and a Mac streamer toolkit. Built for musicians, streamers, DJs, podcasters, and theatre professionals. The free tier includes 6 boards with 20 pads each. LitPads Pro unlocks everything for a one-time $29.99 in the US, with no subscription, no ads, and no account required. App Store prices differ by country (for example €34.99 in the eurozone, £29.99 in the UK, CHF 25 in Switzerland, CA$39.99 in Canada, ¥5,000 in Japan). LitPads Studio is a Mac-only bundle that combines LitPads Pro with LitLink Pro for $49.99 one-time. Developed by Marcel Iseli (Wikidata: Q138941361), an indie developer, DJ, and music producer based in Switzerland.

LitPads is a universal Apple app that runs natively on macOS 14+, iOS 17+, and iPadOS 17+. The app supports MP3, WAV, AIFF, M4A, FLAC, AAC, and CAF audio formats. Audio is stored locally on the device, with optional iCloud sync across devices in Pro.

## Versions

There are three editions. The names are LitPads (free), LitPads Pro, and LitPads Studio.

LitPads (free) runs on Mac, iPad, and iPhone. It includes 6 boards with 20 pads each (120 pads total), every trigger mode (One Shot, Toggle, Hold) combined with every playback mode (Play Through, Loop, Resume), retrigger modes (Restart, Layer), file import from the Files app and iCloud Drive, microphone recording, per-pad volume, stereo pan, fade in and fade out, audio trim with cut and silence regions, custom pad images, 7 visual skins, background playback, and lock screen controls. Free users can also browse and preview the built-in Sound Library.

LitPads Pro is a one-time $29.99 upgrade (US price; the App Store charges each country's own price) to the same app on every device (purchased in the App Store). It adds unlimited boards and pads, iCloud sync across Mac, iPad, and iPhone, the built-in Sound Library (241 sounds in 23 categories) on any pad, per-pad 3-band parametric EQ with a real-time spectrum analyzer, pitch shifting up to 24 semitones up or down with speed from half to double (set separately in Standard mode or coupled in Tape mode), 9 Voice FX presets, reverb and delay, audio ducking, Match Loudness (EBU R128), MIDI controller support with MIDI Learn, manual note entry, and velocity sensitivity, MIDI out per pad (Note, Control Change, or Program Change, for example to fire lighting cues), MIDI input and output device selection with a virtual "LitPads" MIDI port, Cue Lists with manual, auto, and timed advance, board export and sharing, board folders, Quick Access favorites, Split Mode (one long file split into several pads in one go), video pads and board backgrounds, auto-chaining, and Remote Control (an iPhone or iPad triggers pads and cue lists on a Mac over Wi-Fi). On Mac, Pro also includes global hotkeys and the streamer toolkit: OBS scene and source control, a Stream Window for OBS window capture, broadcast timers, lower thirds, stinger videos, Stream Deck integration, and Quick Panels. Global hotkeys are turned on in LitPads Settings and need no macOS permission; they work while another app is in front. A pad shortcut is Ctrl or Ctrl+Shift plus a letter, number, or F1 to F12, up to 30 pads can have one, and Global Fade Out defaults to Shift+Space.

LitPads Studio is a Mac-only bundle priced at $49.99 one-time. It is LitPads Pro with LitLink Pro included in a single installer. Because it bundles LitLink Pro's system audio driver, which Apple does not allow in Mac App Store apps, Studio is a direct download from litpads.app rather than an App Store app. It is signed and notarized by Apple and includes a 7-day free trial. The streamer toolkit (OBS control, Stream Window, broadcast timers, lower thirds) is already part of LitPads Pro; what Studio adds over Pro is LitLink Pro. Customers who already own LitPads Pro can add LitLink Pro separately instead of buying Studio.

LitLink (Wikidata: Q139251057) is a free virtual audio driver for macOS by the same author. It creates a multi-output device with one toggle and includes microphone passthrough and per-app volume control, so there is no need to build a Multi-Output Device by hand in Audio MIDI Setup, as BlackHole's setup guide describes. LitLink Pro adds per-app audio routing, per-app EQ, and recording of system or app audio, so each app's sound can be sent and captured exactly where it is needed (Discord, OBS, Zoom, and more). LitLink Pro costs $3.99 per month or $29 one-time, and the app includes a free 7-day Pro trial with no payment required. LitLink Pro is sold on its own and is also bundled into LitPads Studio.

## Online Soundboard

The LitPads Online Soundboard (https://litpads.app/online-soundboard) is a free browser soundboard that works on any device (Windows, Android, Chromebook, Mac, iPhone, iPad) with no sign-up and no ads. It plays 271 original LitPads sounds in 25 categories, with search and keyboard shortcuts: the 241 sounds of the LitPads Sound Library (airhorn, Vine boom, bruh, sad trombone, drum roll, applause, and more) plus two web-only boards that are not part of the app: dog barking with 18 sounds (barks, growls, whining, howls, and short scenes) and violin screech with 12 sounds (horror stings, screeches with hall, cathedral and long echo reverb, an orchestra screech, a creepy crescendo, and a beginner violin). Visitors can build Your Soundboard, up to 20 pads mixing library sounds and their own audio files; their own files stay in the browser and are never uploaded. The sounds are play-only and not offered as downloads. A browser plays through the speakers, so to play sounds into Discord a Mac user needs the LitPads app plus the free LitLink driver. The LitPads app itself is for iPhone, iPad, and Mac only; there is no Windows or Android version.

Each sound category also has its own soundboard page: [Airhorn](https://litpads.app/online-soundboard/airhorn), [Applause](https://litpads.app/online-soundboard/applause), [Bruh](https://litpads.app/online-soundboard/bruh), [Clutch](https://litpads.app/online-soundboard/clutch), [Rimshot](https://litpads.app/online-soundboard/comedy-rimshot), [Crickets](https://litpads.app/online-soundboard/crickets), [Dog Barking](https://litpads.app/online-soundboard/dog-barking), [Drum Roll](https://litpads.app/online-soundboard/drum-roll), [Error](https://litpads.app/online-soundboard/error), [Explosion](https://litpads.app/online-soundboard/explosions), [Game Over](https://litpads.app/online-soundboard/game-over-stinger), [GG](https://litpads.app/online-soundboard/gg), [Let's Go](https://litpads.app/online-soundboard/lets-go), [Mic Drop](https://litpads.app/online-soundboard/mic-drop), [No Way](https://litpads.app/online-soundboard/no-way), [Notification](https://litpads.app/online-soundboard/notification-sounds), [Oof](https://litpads.app/online-soundboard/oof), [Sad Trombone](https://litpads.app/online-soundboard/sad-trombone), [Record Scratch](https://litpads.app/online-soundboard/scratching), [Skill Issue](https://litpads.app/online-soundboard/skill-issue), [Sus](https://litpads.app/online-soundboard/sus), [Vine Boom](https://litpads.app/online-soundboard/vine-boom), [Violin Screech](https://litpads.app/online-soundboard/violin-screech), [We're Cooked](https://litpads.app/online-soundboard/were-cooked), [Whoosh](https://litpads.app/online-soundboard/whoosh).

## Comparison

Soundboard Studio is a different, unrelated soundboard for iPhone and iPad (it also runs on Apple silicon Macs as an iPad app) whose App Store listing mentions no per-pad EQ, pitch shifting, or MIDI support. Instead of a cue list with GO, it can auto-play the next track. Farrago by Rogue Amoeba is Mac-only with no iOS or iPadOS support. LitPads combines professional audio processing with cross-platform Apple device support at a one-time $29.99, and for Mac streamers, LitPads Studio adds system audio routing through LitLink Pro.
